Moving household goods from Ireland to Canada involves both international transportation and Canadian import procedures.
Get Cracking can arrange the collection, professional packing and transportation of your household belongings from Ireland, together with destination services in Canada through our international moving network.
Before shipping, customers should ensure that they meet the appropriate Canadian immigration and import requirements.
When your shipment arrives, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) may require documentation and declarations relating to your household goods. Requirements can vary depending on whether you are moving to Canada for the first time, returning to Canada or importing goods at a later date.
For current requirements, customers should always check the official Canada Border Services Agency guidance for people moving or returning to Canada.
Get Cracking can assist with the moving and shipping process and coordinate with our destination partners in Canada.
Canada has specific customs procedures for people importing household and personal effects when moving or returning to the country.
Depending on your circumstances and the goods being imported, qualifying personal and household effects may be eligible for relief from duties and taxes. Conditions apply, so customers should not assume that every item can automatically be imported duty-free.
You should prepare a detailed inventory of the belongings you are bringing to Canada, including items arriving with you and goods that will arrive separately as part of your international removal.
Certain goods — including vehicles, alcohol, tobacco, food, plants, firearms and other restricted items — may be subject to additional requirements, restrictions, taxes or permits.
For the latest rules, documentation and restrictions, refer directly to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
Please note: Customs and immigration regulations can change. The information above is a general guide and customers should confirm the current requirements with the relevant Canadian authorities before shipping.
Transit times for removals from Ireland to Canada depend on the shipping method, shipment volume, destination, sailing schedules and customs clearance.
