There’s also the Monti Open Air Market, a popular shopping area with colourful stalls, selling all manner of goods including antiques and souvenirs. Sample local delicacies such as Imqaret (a traditional Maltese sweet pastry containing dates) and Pastizzi (a savoury pastry often filled with ricotta cheese).

Malta has plenty to offer in terms of beaches – with golden sands, red sands and dramatic rocky outcrops. Whether you enjoy the thrill of water sports, such as windsurfing, or prefer more soothing pursuits e.g. lazing on the shore with the latest blockbuster for company, Malta won’t disappoint.

 

Visit Anchor Bay, located in Mellieħa. Back in 1979 the bay played host to the film Popeye (starring Robin Williams). Or head to Balluta Bay, a popular spot for sun-worshippers that features a rocky coastline stretching from Qui-si-Sana in Sliema all the way to St. Julian’s.
